Autumn 2003 Newsletter

I hope you have all had a very enjoyable summer break and are now raring to start singing again.
For our Winter Concert, Ken has chosen a work that the Choral Society has not performed before: Gounod’s Messe solennelle de Sainte Cécile. I have to admit it was not a work I knew, but, after listening to it over the summer break, I have to say it is a spectacular and operatic Mass that I am very much looking forward to singing.
The first half of the concert will also include Fauré’s Messe Basse. John Smith will be providing Rehearsal Tapes and CD’s as usual for the Gounod (see Links page). I have sourced scores from Music Dynamics at £7 per copy and I will be taking orders on the evening of the first rehearsal for those of you who would prefer to have their own scores.
Talking of which, rehearsals start again on Wednesday, 10th September at the Alexandra Road School at the usual time of 7-45pm.
The concert itself will be on Saturday, 6th December at the Grove School.
If anyone knows of any potential new recruits, do please bring them along. I look forward to seeing you all then.
